Sweet Ever After

Sweet ever after is an almost new American-style-bakery in Shanghai specialized in cupcakes& sweet treats (brownies, cookies, muffins). A few days back I got the opportunity to interview Song Wong, the owner of this only delivery bakery (order online one day ahead by 5pm) for the moment.

Luckily, Song had mercy on me and gave me as a present two boxes full with ALL of her sweet catalog, and, well, I accept it. I had too, right?. Well, I did it, just in the name and sake of this blog (not because I'm glutton). I cannot be rude or should I just say the truth? Should I say I'm weak and I'm sugarholic besides being an already public confessed chocoholic?

Anyway, I jumped onto those innocents cupcakes as if my life was depending on it, and Oh my (sweet) God, I think I developed a Sweet Ever After addiction. These cupcakes are by far the best cupcakes I ever tried in Shanghai. Personally I fell in total and instant love with Triple Chocolate Cupcake, Going Bananas Cupcake and Peter Rabbit Carrot Cupcake, those three babies were totally winners for me.

In case chocolate is not your thing they have (she and her business partner & husband) other not such traditional flavors like Honey Bee Green Tea Cupcake and Open Sesame Cupcake. Still not your cup of coffee? Sun-kissed Citrus Cupcake, Princess Vanilla Cupcake or Strawberry Fields definitely will got you, but if you want mon avis go for the chocolate!.

Just be careful not to eat them all at once (as a very close *friend* of mine did) or you will have a major sugar high!!.

Sweet Ever After interview

Cupcakes or muffins?
A muffin is like a favorite pair of old jeans - confy, you could wear it every day, matches with almost anything...but nothing special. A cupcake is like the really cute dress you got during your last vacation - when you wear it, your smile is a little brighter, your laugh is a little louder and you absolutely glow.

I have to say I love both (me too).

So, why cupcakes?
Cupcakes make people happy. They help people celebrate life's occasions - both small and big. Can brighten up any ordinary day!. (btw, check their Easter Collection)

What's your favorite Sweet Ever After Cupcake?
Oh, gosh, please don't make me choose...Can I get a pass if I tell you what my husband's favorite is -his #1 favorite is the Triple Chocolate (mmm...smart guy!!)

What's your favorite dessert ever? (Besides cupcakes, we know you love them)
This is a tough one. Ever? Something very simple I had when I was a kid. It was a special treat we had on a week-long camping trip along the Snake River in Oregon - hand picked fresh blackberries thrown into a tub of half melted Breyer's vanilla bean ice cream.

Share with us your first cupcake memory
The supermarket kind that came in a plastic container - it had yellow piped frosting and colorful sprinkles. Some of them would have a clown ornament stuck inside (??). I never really ate these (good!) but looked at them all the time when my mom would bring me to go grocery shopping.

Why people is so crazy about cupcakes nowadays?
Because they are irresistible (Aha, see? That's why I ate them all. Sorry, my *friend*)

What do you think of the Chinese pastry scene (in China)?
It's super competitive. The bakeries are like huge machines churning out thousands of breads and cakes a day. The focus is more on "European-style" cakes and Asian-style breads made with a sweet dough. There is very little customization, a differentiation or creativity in the industry at large.

Why Sweet Ever After?
It is the ending to a fairytale. (A sweet nice ending I must say!)

Entrevista Sweet Ever After

Cupcakes o muffins?
(wow, me gusta esa descripcion!).

Debo decir que los dos me encantan. (a mi tambien)

Why Sweet Ever After?
Es el fin del cuento de hadas. (Y un dulce fin debo yo anadir!)

You are one lucky girl! An entire box of these gorgeous, luscious-looking cupcakes. But how generous to have shared them with your man! I would have to try them all, as well :-)

Growing up, my parents often made both sheet cakes and cupcakes from boxed mixes, sometimes with a box of pudding mix thrown in, topped with canned frostings, but what a treat! I was always a chocolate girl!
