A Chinese lunch

wing lei at wynn

In this part of the world we're still celebrating CNY, we're on day 10th. Or is it 11th?....

I think I already lost the count, but one thing is sure; we're getting closer to Lantern day (which is my favorite day of the New Lunar Year celebrations).

dim sum

As you can imagine this girl has been so busy having fun with friends and not cooking much for the last couple of weeks. (Well, I did bake a wonderful pandanus-coconut cake..recipe coming soon).

These pictures are from last October, when my parents and in laws came for our wedding. Our dear friends Rita&Fernando were so kind to invite my folks (in laws were already back in France) for an almuerzo chines in style.

We went to Wing Lei where Chef Peter Chang creates traditional meets modern dim sum (and alikes) magic. In short, one of the best meals I've had since we move in. Well, actually, Wynn Macau is one of my favorite Casino-Hotels in town. (I heard Il Teatro makes the best pizza in this city. I can see a visit on our near future.)

All dim sum selection are incredible good but baked barbecue pork buns with sweetened crust, are excellent, o como diriamos en mi rancho: se cuecen aparte!.

Happy Chinese New Year and Valentines Weekend!.

Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year
or
Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day...

oh, boy!.

Which one is your favorite one?
I still cannot decide which one is my favorite.

What I do know, is that I wish you celebrate this special amoroso, tender, loving weekend with your family, and your loved ones playing silly card games or mahjong; watching romantic movies, and eating plenty of good food.

oh, yes, please, please!
have lots of delicious romantic and prosperous good food,
during this weekend

I'm channeling dumplings, steamed fish, turnip and rice cakes for CNY and luscious Chinese Fice Spice Chocolate truffles and champagne for Valentine's Day.

Hope you get them all!.

Note: these pictures are from a belated celebration of Western New Years' diner party from my husband's young Pastry Brigade (if you're new to this blog, my hubs works here). I decided to post them because this is what (at least to me) CNY is all about: family, friends, good food (that was the best hot pot ever) and great times!. (And frankly, all my CNY pictures were pretty awful if you want to know). But also, because these guys (and 1 gal), they work really, really hard day and night; to nurture us, and for that my friends; we should all be thankful.

Note: this post was supposed to be published last Saturday, but somehow it never saw the light until today. Sorry; won't happen again.

around the corner

Yes,
Chinese New Year, or Spring Festival is around the corner.

And we can almost listen it,feel it, see it and smell it.

It feels like excitement
it sounds like firecrackers and fireworks!
it looks gorgeously red,
and it smells like narcissus blossoms (for prosperity).

I just can't wait for CNY!. For us (husband and I) this celebration has become a very important one; because it marks the true end of the Holiday Season in Asia, and because how come you cannot fall in love with a celebration that involves family gatherings, lion and dragon dances all over the city , lai si (red envelopes) and great food?.

Yes, fun, noisy, colorful, smelly and delicious Chinese New Year is almost here!!!

Tell me, are you getting ready for CNY? How does Chinese Community at your country celebrates the Spring Festival?.

Happy (Nutellicious) Friday. World Nutella day!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Not only did I bake a cake.
I baked a cake with Nutella,
and boy, it was GOOD.

But,
I ate it. All.

And hence, no cake pictures to show!.
so, I will have to bake it again!!! [Isn't life SO challenging and difficult sometimes?]

How about you?
How are you enjoying your Nutella on World Nutella Day?.
Since I have no cake left, I'm eating mine with a spoon;
straight out of the jar. [oh, sometimes I like to walk on the wild side!]

Happy Nutellicious Day!

Oh, and meanwhile check my Nutella Alfajores recipe from last year.

And don't forget to check Sara Rosso ( Ms Adventures in Italy) and Michelle Fabio ( Bleeding Espresso) blogs and while there don't forget to thank them for creating this event. Grazie mile ragazze!
