Weekend Brunches and Afternoon Teas are Hongkies soft spot. One of their all-time choices for such is Isola.
At only HK$298 (+ service charge per person), their weekend brunch could be the best deal in town. It is composed by bread basket, antipasto buffet or soup + main course + desserts buffet + coffee or tea.
Antipasto was very good, and to be honest, next to their big terrace facing HK´s stunning waterfront, I think is the main reason why all the people visit this place. The buffet offers antipasto classics such as artichokes hearts, grilled zucchine, sun dried tomatos and more, plus a small but excellent selection of superb quality cold meats (think prosciutto..) and cheeses out of this world ( the freshest mozarella di bufalla and creamiest cambozola to die for).
Main dishes are not as polished as buffet, I ordered risotto with leeks, which was by far not the best risotto I´ve eaten in my entire life. My companions, one ordered tagliatelle which she barely touched because she was already too full, and my other friend ate fish and he hapily did (sorry folks, can´t remember the type of fish).
Desserts are ok, this said by a Pastry Chef´s wife might be the equivalent to a very good-yum-delicious of a less picky and rather nicer normal person like you. But being in a Italian Restaurant I expected a lot from their Tiramisu, which is good but not outstanding (one of my companions is also a Pastry Chef, and we both agree desserts could be better).
Overall, the place is quite charming, ambiance and decor make you feel home (I mean, if your home looks like a chic nothing but white home with parquet floor a la bodieandfou), food is unpretentiosly good enough to make you want to comeback (and all our Italians friends swear Isola has the best pizza in HK).
Last week, when I went, Hong Kong gave us one of the most beautiful sunny and clear blue sky days in longtime. If you are as lucky as I was, then make sure to get a table on the terrace.

Los Brunches de fin de semana y los Afternoon Tea forman parte de los consentidos de mis queridos Hongkies de hueso colorado. Y si de Brunches hablamos, uno de sus consentidos es Isola en ifc.
A tan solo HK $298 (+ service charge por persona), su brunch (palabra creada por la contraccion de breakfast + lunch) de finde puede ser el mejor deal en la ciudad. El cual consiste en canasta de pan (x mesa), buffet de antipasto o sopa + plato principal + buffet de postres + café o té.
La barra de Antipasto me pareció más que buena, buenísima; y para ser honesta, creo que junto con la gran terraza con imponente vista del puerto, es la principal razón de tantos adeptos. El buffet de antipastos está compuesto por varios clásicos como corazones de alcachofas marinados, vegetales grillados, zucchine, tomates deshidratados entre otros, además de una pequeña pero excelente seleccion de carnes frias (prosciutto y secuaces) y quesos fuera de éste mundo (fresquisimo mozarella di bufalla y cremoso gorgonzola to die for).
Los platillos principales fueron (a mi gusto) lo más flojo del menú. Yo ordené risotto con puerros, y debo decir que no es el mejor risotto que he comido en mi vida, y por mucho. Mis acompañantes, una ordenó tagliatelle el cual tenía buena pinta, pero mi amiga no pudo ni probarlo (con tanto antipasto!), mientras que mi otro amigo más inteligentemente ordeno un pescado a la plancha, el cual comió con singular alegria.
Postres. Uf. Bueno. La barra de postres me parecio ok; dicho ésto (recalco) por la esposa de un super-duper Chef Pastelero puede ser el equivalente a un super-miam-miam-delicioso de una persona mucho menos picky y normalita que su servilleta ( osea moi). Pero estando en famoso y respetado Restaurante Italiano, tenia granfes expectativas de sus postres, especialmente del Tiramisu, el cual debo confesar está rico y es de lo mejor de su menú, pero podría estar aún mejor. (btw, uno de mis acompañantes es tambien Chef Pastelero, y él coincidió conmigo en cuanto a postres se trató).
En general, el lugar es muy agradable, ambiente y decoracion te hacen sentir en casa (bueno, si por casa definimos una muy monocromática en blanco chic casa a lo más bodieandfou), la cocina es una cocina sin pretensiones y lo suficientemente buena para invitarte a regresar (y todos nuestros amigos Italianos juran que la mejor pizza de HK es la de Isola).
La semana pasada, cuando fui a Isola, Hk nos regaló una de las tardes mas hermosas con un cielo perefecto. Si cuando vas por allá, tienes la misma suerte que yo, no dudes en pedir una mesa en la terraza.
Cielo perfecto. Terraza. Vista inigualable.
Buena cocina a un muy buen precio.
